REPETEDLY USE of HIGH SALINITY SOLUTION

The main component of the HS solution is NaCl, which plays mechanical role of foulants lifting and their transport from the pressure vessel, and does not enter into any chemical reaction with the foulant components. Therefore HS solution can be used repeatedly, in environmentally sensitive areas where even a few second increases in brine salinity during the DO-HS cleaning are prohibited.
A very small volume of HS solution is required for each cleaning cycle, and the same HS solution can be used many times in the closed loop. For this purpose, spent HS solution, with foulant and permeate, should be collected and filtrated in a slow sand filter with a layer of Granulated Activated Carbon (GAC), or other filtering process. The filtrate should be concentrated in the small evaporation unit to achieve the original concentration, and it can be reused. Every few months filter media should be removed as a dry compost.
